December 2014

Christmas / New Year / January key dates

  • Administration Office: it is “business as usual” and the Office will remain open except for the Public Holidays (Thurs 25th and Fri 26th Dec 2014; and Thurs 1st Jan 2015).
  • Day Hospice: the last day will be Thursday 18th Dec 2014 and it will restart on Tuesday 6th Jan 2015.
  • Carers Accommodation remains open over this period. Please note, as per our standard policy, guests will not be able to check in or check out on Public Holidays, outside of business hours or over the weekend.

St Mary's Derby Day Fete this Saturday

It's on again! St. Mary’s Derby Day fete is on this Saturday, November 1 from 9am to 4pm. You'll find a huge range of stalls, rides, music, auction items and so much more at St Mary’s Parish Centre & Primary School, cnr Yarra & Little Myers Street Geelong. The Rotary Club of Geelong Central’s Melbourne Cup Eve fundraiser

Join in the pre-race fun at the Melbourne Cup Eve fundraiser on Monday 3rd November 2014, presented by The Rotary Club of Geelong Central. Anam Cara is one of the lucky recipients of money raised from the night. Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased here. Be at the Geelong West Bowling Club (Bowlers Avenue) for a 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Annual General Meeting 2014

Anam Cara House Geelong's Annual General Meeting is on Thursday 6th November 2014 at the Wesley Centre, 100 Yarra Street, Geelong. Our guest speaker is Dr Heather Wellington, lawyer with DLA Piper, Surf Coast Shire Councillor and former Chair of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. All are welcome to attend. Trivia Night raises over $3,000 for Anam Cara Geelong

A full house at our Trivia Night on Saturday saw over $3,000 raised for palliative care at Anam Cara Geelong. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us. We had lots of fun! Congrats to the raffle winners and thanks to the wonderful volunteers who helped out and the organisations who donated prizes including The Blues Train, Seaview House, Hardings Hardware, Catalyst Myotherapy and Naturopath Sally May-Jeffrey.

Fundraising Trivia Night

Invite your family and friends to our Trivia Night fundraiser at the Belmont Park Pavilion from 7pm on Saturday 25th October 2014. There'll be a mystery auction, prizes and a raffle - plus you'll help raise much needed funds for our community palliative care service. Tickets are $15 including a light supper - simply pay on the night. We're excited to annouce that first prize in our raffle is one night's accommodation at Seaview House in Queenscliff plus a double pass to The Blues Train. More prizes will be announced soon!

Welcome to our new Business Community Partners

Anam Cara Geelong is thrilled to welcome Gartland Community on board as our first Business Community Partner. Thanks to Bob Gartland and the team for supporting the program over the next three years. Their pledge will fund one night of palliative care nursing which we provide free of charge to our guests. We would also like to welcome our Patron Frank Costa, Jonathan Hepner Funerals, ISIS and MC Herd as Business Community Partners. Morgans Financial Geelong has also made a pledge to us and joined the program.
